Tone is a key factor in pipe band bass drumming. Acoustical laws are such that: the larger the point of contact, the lower the frequencies produced. The mallet head was designed with this principle in mind. The slight curve of the mallet head allows for more consistent contact with the drumhead, a plus for bass drummers who use a wide vareity of arm and wrist motions.

The beaded tip (mallet head) is one solid piece. This is possible through the use of a foam-injection molding process, where the foam is bonded to a hand-turned, straight-grained, sugar maple shaft.

Foam density is formulated to achieve a clear and solid attack, with maximum tone.
