Recognized as a leading bass drummer, winning the 1998 Grade Two World Bass Title, as well as two Gold Medals at Winter Storm, Kansas City. 

Mike’s bass sections have won multiple North American titles in Grades One and Two.

A retired math teacher, Mike conducts workshops for Scottish Arts’ schools,  associations, and individual bands, emphasizing: 

• Postive aspects of the bass sections overall contribution the pipe band ensemble

• Fundamental and advanced drumming techniques

• Bass, tenor, and score creation with a focus on ensemble

• Functional tuning techniques and melodic considerations for bass and tenor sections
